This seitan chicken recipe is so simple, doesn’t require any special devices, and still gives you a delicious and shreddy result. This recipe is only 4 ingredients, all you need is a mixing bowl and a pot to simmer your seitan!
This recipe differs from my other seitan chicken recipes where this is made with vital wheat gluten rather than washed flour. I still love my washed flour seitan, but this recipe is the best when you are low on energy and still want some delicious vegan protein.
How to Make Seitan Chicken
Essentially you are mixing a ‘dough’ in a bowl, kneading it, fry the exterior, and then simmer it.
The biggest shortcut for this recipe is you are mixing hummus with your vital wheat gluten, vegan chicken seasoning, and a splash of soymilk.
Other recipes will have you blend up chickpeas with vital wheat gluten in a food processor. I personally don’t own a food processer and don’t want to buy another appliance to take up space in my kitchen. Not to mention that is another thing you have to clean. The hummus in this recipe makes the seitan more tender, juicy, and the flavor is suburb.
